It's by a bloke called Danny Dreyer and it tries to marry running with a sense of 'calm abiding', as buddhists would put it - in other words, focused attention that brings a stillness to our minds. An awareness or 'watchfulness' of our thoughts and a single pointed attention on something.

It strikes me that there are many ways to incorporate wisdom into our everday lives. Sitting for three hours at a time staring at a white wall may be the way to go for some, but time constraints and a lack of iron-like dedication leave the rest of us wondering if we will ever be the calm, wise, loving, centred, at ease, giving , fun people we all want to be.

These could include concentrating single-pointedly on doing the dishes, sitting quietly for an hour at lunchtime in a park or under a tree, deciding today to help a designated person, getting up a half-hour earlier and doing some yoga, reading a spiritual book before bed, concentrating on breath and posture when at your desk or any number of things.

NLP has some simple and effective techniques for setting up and accessing a desired 'state' for your day. That could be confidence, calmness, patience or creativity. I use these techniques every morning and I notice the difference it makes to my day. Of curse, years of conditioning to act and re-act in certain ways to certain stimuli mean that not every day is Nirvana, but the point is I am more and more aware of the behavioral options open to me. All I have to do is say 'yes'!

test

Hi

This is a test!
